Marvel Studios Phase 2 Updates: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, S.H.I.E.L.D., Iron Man 3

Hey Towelites! It’s time once again to round up the latest news and rumors surround Marvel Studios’ Phase 2!

She said no, she said no again, but now the answer is yes. The beautiful Hayley Atwell will reprise her role as Peggy Carter for a small cameo in the upcoming sequel to Captain America. According to Stanley Tucci:

“I know that Hayley is going back to do a flashback scene,” Tucci told Collider, “but I have not been asked.”

The rumor is that recently sign actress Emily VanCamp will play Sharon Carter in The Winter Soldier, who is the niece of Peggy Carter. A rumor which I would say is about 99% accurate. Look for Cap 2 in April of 2014!

Movement on the Guardians of the Galaxy front is starting to pick up speed! Recently we saw the casting of Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty) as the leader of the group, Starlord. In an interview with Cinema Blend, Marvel’s Executive VP Victoria Alonso had this to say about the current status of GOTG:

“Production has already started! Completely. It started months ago and we have an entire team in London already – we start shooting in June. Our director [James Gunn] travels next week and it’s going, baby! It’s a fast train to a beautiful place.”

In regards to the treatment of the more obscure characters in the group:

“We’re going to do a combination. You can’t do any motion capture with a raccoon – they won’t let you put the suit on [laughs]. But we will do rotomation, probably, for some of the behavior. Rocket will have his own personality, of course, and clearly we can’t do mocap on a tree, per say, but we definitely will have performers to emulate what James Gunn will lead to be the behavior and the performance. He’s very clear on where he wants to take the characters.”

ANY and ALL news has been pretty secretive, as can be expected when it comes to anything involving the most elite security force on earth. But the filming of the pilot for the first season of the upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show has wrapped.

The show will now move straight to VFX stage of production and we will eagerly anticipate the inevitable when ABC picks up S.H.I.E.L.D for the entire season!
