TUESDAY BLU’S-DAY: NEW RELEASES ON BLU-RAY AND DVD 12/4/12

Tuesday Blus-day 930x300 slider

Hey everyone,

Here we are again with another weekly edition of Blu-ray and DVD releases.  With Christmas getting even closer, we have some good ones on the shelf this week.

Starting of with a bang, we have Christopher Nolan’s Batman in The Dark Knight Rises (Christian Bale).  This is coming to you in both Blu-ray and DVD (BD includes the digital copy as well).  I know this hasn’t really been the “comic” book version of Batman, but the movies have been excellent non-the-less, and I cannot wait for this one!

If you’re wanting to make this a special gift, you can get the special edition version which includes the Bat Cowl!

In fact, what’s making the bigger bang, is the trilogy Blu-Ray release.  All 3 movies in one custom package; Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises.  This looks great as part of anyone’s collections (which in turn makes it a great gift), and it included bonus features for all 3 films.  Despite even owning the first two, I kind of am thinking to just get this one instead!

In other news we have one of my favorite classics being released on Blu-Ray from Criterion Collection… Terry Gilliam’s Brazil.  This movie is absolutely fantastic, and if you don’t own it, well here’s your chance.

Having recently purchased a 3D television, I’ve been keeping my eyes open for 3D movies (at least those that are worth it).  I remember seeing Disney’s UP in 3D and I though that movie was great!  And now it comes to us in a 5 disc collection, including the 3D version.

In 3D we’re also getting the re-release of Finding Nemo.  Let me tell you, I loved that movie.  And though I didn’t see it in 3D, I feel like that movie would make a good transition (ocean environment and all).  This one is definitely on my list.

Some other releases include Halo 4: Forward Unto Down (a live action digital series based on the video game, which has received excellent reviews), Jennifer Garner in The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Willem Dafoe and Jude Law in Existenz, a Double Feature of Hostel 1 and 2, Catch Me If You Can (starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks) and, one of my all time favorite anime: Ninja Scroll.

Wait, hold up… I shouldn’t even put that movie bunched into a paragraph with all those others.  Let me say this one more time… yes, you heard correctly.  Ninja Scroll is being released in Blu-Ray.  If you’ve seen anime and you’ve seen this movie… well, then you know what I’m talking about.  If you haven’t… well, do it.  Do it NOW!

In Television we have Eastbound & Down season 3, Star Trek: The Next Generation season 2 and Simpsons season 15.

As you all see, it’s a good day in the world of releases.  Now get out or get online and do yourself, your friend, your family, and your economically troubled country a favor; buy something! :)

Hello all, Mozeus here; chiming in from Portland, OR. It's been over 12 years since college; 12 years since Chaz and I studied film together; in fact, 12 years since I've actually seen and hung out with Chaz. And yet films, music, games, and everything geeky has kept us in touch. And here I am, excited and happy to actually be able to contribute to this fun and informative site! (thanks Chaz) About me? I love stories... in books, movies or games, I'm there. I'm more a fan of the gritty and dramatic (ie, I would pick Darren Aronofsky over Michael Bay), but whether something is my taste/style or not, I will always give credit where credit is due. I have to admit, my tastes are very particular, but this is something you'll come to see through my own articles here. So, it begins... Let's see where this goes!
