Now that Dark Empire isn’t the follow up story to the end of ROTJ, we need some tales to tell us what happened when the Rebellion won. We knew that this book was on the way as part of “Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens” campaign and now Marvel has announced the creative team behind the upcoming comic Shattered Empire.

New York, NY – April 17th, 2015 – The Empire has fallen. It is now a time for resurgence. It is a time for new beginnings. This September, Marvel Comics and Lucasfilm are excited to present the newest chapter of the Star Wars mythos with Star Wars: Journey to The Force Awakens – Shattered Empire written by comic book legend, Greg Rucka (Cyclops) with art by Marco Checchetto (Avengers World).
Created in close partnership with Lucasfilm, this new Marvel Comics limited series will exist as part of the canon for the Star Wars universe and will offer a glimpse into December’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens!
“The world has been wondering what happened after the fall of the Empire since the credits first rolled on ‘Return of the Jedi’ in 1983,” says series editor Jordan D. White. “Now, on the dawn of the next chapter of the saga, we’re incredibly proud to be involved in revealing the events that happen immediately following the end of ‘Return of the Jedi’!”
