I love that some of my favorite pop culture franchises get the comic book treatment. From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, to Pathfinder, and now to 007 himself, James Bond. Dynamite Comics announced that we will be seeing a new Bond comic and it will be written by Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan ).
According to the sysnopsis, the book will follow Bond’s early years, before the events of Casino Royale. Ellis was interested in seeing the darker side of the character, as he goes up against a criminal organization known as VARGR.
…early years and origins, establishing who he was prior to Casino Royale, the first novel (and film), and showing how he gained the reputation that allowed his cocky introduction to come to life.
My hope is that he doesn’t look like any of the previous Bonds, and artist Jason Masters (Batwoman) will make the locales gritty. The comic is due out for a November release, as we will keep you posted when we get more news on this amazing project!
