Awesome news for fans of the cult comic that inspired a fantastic and final performance by Brandon Lee in 1994’s The Crow, one that inspired three sequels and it’s own television show. Producer Ed Pressman (American Psycho, The Crow) has released that the remake of the classic comic series has finally pulled itself from production limbo and is set to start shooting spring 2015.

The Crow 01Pressman described main character, Eric Draven, as “the anti-Spider-man”, saying that “It still has a big fan base even though it was long ago. But the generation today doesn’t even know The Crow.” James O’ Barr‘s The Crow was a very dark story meant to help him cope with the death of his girlfriend in a tragic hit and run.

The story revolves around Eric Draven who watches, paralyzed by a bullet to the head, as his girlfriend is beaten and raped by a gang of miscreants before being left for dead. He is then resurrected by a mysterious crow and seeks revenge on the people who killed the love of his life.

The Crow 02Luke Evans is currently the favorite actor in the running for this role, having previously featured everyone from Bradley Cooper to Tom Hiddleston to Alexander Skarsgard to James McAvoy. Not much else has been released about the film except that it is very true to O’Barr’s original comic.

The Crow 03Prepare yourself for the return to the big screen of one of the darkest comics ever written.
