Finally, after much speculation and not much in terms of the plot and pictures, we have our first official look at the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. The film is directed by Josh Trank (Chronicle) and written by Simon Kinberg (Days of Future Past). I have to say that the footage does impress and I’m kinda glad that’s it’s been kept away for this long. You have me interested Fox.

Here’s the official synopsis for the Fantastic Four:

FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

Trank and Kinberg did an interview over at Collider and said the film would be more akin to The Fly and a science fiction horror film, and that’s just the vibe I got from this teaser. If I didn’t know it was about the Fantastic Four, I would have no idea it was a comic book movie. They did a really great job.

Fantastic Four is due out to theatres on August 7th. The film stars Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan,  Jamie Bell, and Toby Kebbell.
