Prolific film director, Wes Craven, has passed away at the age of 76 following a battle with brain cancer. Craven was responsible for The People Under the Stairs, Scream, and started off the Nightmare on Elm Street series. He was continuing to work on projects up until his death and was about to release The Girl in the Photographs, which he executive produced.

I’ve been a fan of Cravens work since I saw the first Nightmare film, and fell in love with it. When Scream premiered in the 90s, I thought it was one of the best horror films of all time. Consistently, Craven has produced fantastic work and he will be extremely missed here at DFAT. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones.

Today is truly a sad day for all horror fans. One of the great ones is gone.
