Peter Pan in 2003 was a giant let down. I was super excited to see the world of J.M. Barrie come to life once more, but the movie did not live up to the trailers or the hype I had in my head. The first images and subsequent .gifs for the Peter Pan Live! adaptation this past Winter didn’t do the characters any justice either. This all leads up to the fact that I had not been following director Joe Wright‘s (Hanna, Pride and Prejudice) Pan; because I figured it was doomed for failure as well.
That could still be the case but after watching the trailer below, I became a little more excited again. Not since Steven Spielberg‘s Hook has Hollywood done anything good with the character, but I am a fan of Wright’s work and this looks pretty great.
Pan will be released on October 9th, 2015. The film stars: Hugh Jackman (“Les Misérables”) as Blackbeard; Garrett Hedlund (“Inside Llewyn Davis”) as Hook; Oscar nominee Rooney Mara (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”) as Tiger Lily; Adeel Akhtar (“The Dictator”) as Smee; and newcomer Levi Miller as Peter.
