Star Wars Episode VII is ten months away, but the anticipation for that film is continuing to reach a fever pitch. Us here at DFAT are HUGE Star Wars fans, as you can tell by our podcast, as well as our entire Sunday called Star Wars Sundays. Little is known about the film outside of the teaser we saw in November, but the latest plot details below seem to coincide with that footage as to how the film is going to open.

Opening of the Film

Remember that what I’m about to write is not only potential spoilers, but more importantly, is a RUMOR.

The film opens with a lightsaber falling from space and landing in a Savannah Environment. This could be Tatooine, as this is really the only desert Planet that the viewers have seen. The saber is found by a Star-Wars-VII-Concept-Art-9-1024x575farmer named Naka, who accidentally ignites the weapon and starts a fire with it. As he’s frightened by this mysterious weapon, he decides to take the saber to his elder who is called The Vicar.

We don’t know if this is the name of the character, or if it’s simply a code name. Most likely he’s played by Max von Sydow. The Vicar takes the light sabers and contacts the Rebel Alliance, which brings Poe Dameron, a Rebel pilot, to the planet. Poe is played by Oscar Isaac. As Poe comes and gets the lightsaber from The Vicar, the Empire is also called down to the planet. This part I’m not too sure about as I didn’t even know that The Empire would still be around after the Battle of Endor; but like I said, these are just rumors.

As Stormtroopers close in on Poe, he hides the lightsaber in the BB-8 droid. The droid flees, and that’s what we supposedly see in the trailer as it’s rolling. At the same time all this is happening, one young Stormtrooper named Finn (John Boyega) sees this face off between the Rebel pilot and the Empire’s Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Ren burns down the village and takes both Poe and Finn to the brig of a Star Destroyer, where the two must team up in order to escape.

So THAT’S the beginning of the film, which is crazy enough. The rest if a bullet point breakdown of what else to expect, and let me just tell you, if we see even half of what I’m about to describe, we’re in for the most insane Star Wars movie of all time.

Random Plot Points

  • After the defeat of the Empire, the war is not over. Splintered Imperial forces remain active, while the Rebellion has not made a clear (or morally clean) transition to rule. There is essentially a galactic Cold War happening.
  • Imperial soldier FINN (John Boyega) defects to Tatooine; there he meets scrap collector REY (Daisy Ridley) and her droid BB-8
  • Daisy’s mentor (Max von Sydow) points them toward a larger destiny involving a lightsaber that is connected to the now-absent Jedi.
  • That lightsaber leads to HAN SOLO and CHEWBACCA, who take Rey, Finn and BB-8 on a galactic quest to find LUKE SKYWALKER
  • Luke is supposedly in exile, guarding a Sith tomb (or some sacred site) for which Finn’s lightsaber is the key
  • Meanwhile, an Imperial commander (Gwendoline Christie) is on Finn’s trail for defecting
  • A pivotal character (Domhall Gleeson as Luke’s possible son) is acting as double-agent against both the Rebellion and the Empire, in order to stop super weapons possessed by both sides
  • And a Darkside user named KYLO REN (presumably Adam Driver) will be hunting down the lightsaber and its wielders.

To add to the rumors that Han will die in the film, here are events that supposedly were filmed at London’s Pinewood Studios:

The Fall of Han Solo

  • There is a sequence that takes place on the ramparts of The Evil Castle.
  • Han Solo is hiding. He decides to reveal himself to Kylo Renn.
  • Finn, Rey, Chewbacca and BB-8 stop in their tracks. They watch as Han Solo confronts Kylo Ren. Kylo Rnn silences the conversation forever. Chewbacca lets out of a barrage of angry roars and laser blasts.
  • Kylo Ren flees the scene. Explosions. Stormtroopers file in and Finn and Rey are forced to flee. More explosions. BB-8 and Chewbacca flee to the Falcon.
  • Han Solo is never in a scene after this. Those are the facts.

Only time will tell us what will happen in The Force Awakens, but if you couple the supposed plot points above, and the leaked concept art shown HERE, a LOT of it seems to match up. As more news comes in about the film, keep it here to DFAT for all things Star Wars!
