Ichabod and Abbie face one of Pandora’s creatures that raise fear and paranoia through bug bites.  Joe takes matter into his own hands to find answers about his father by making a deal with the devil.

Ichabod’s guide to surviving your first date needs a lot of work.  His first date with Ms. Corinth is a disaster when he tries to use twenty questions as a great ice breaker.  Fortunately it didn’t end horribly, because they still like each other and that is a good thing.

Back at the FBI, Reynolds talks to Abbie about her sister and her involvement with the Nevin’s case.  She promises to talk to her about it.  Abbie is with Icabod at the courthouse trying to give him emotional support when he tries to clean this Immigration fiasco of smuggling foreign artifacts into the U.S.  Abbie reassures him that Judge Chrysdale is a softy when it comes to anything historical so it will be easy for this whole fiasco to go away.  Unfortunately, when they arrive at Judge Chrysdale’s courtroom they see a totally different person on the bench, same person but his behavior is erratic and acting crazy.  In the corner of his eye, Ichabod notices a swarm of wasps in a shape of a woman then disappears.  Judge Chrysdale then collapses and dies, so much for an easy day for the Witnesses.

Back in the Archives, Ichabod inspects one of the wasps found at the courthouse.  He says it is a species known as Jack Spaniard, a species of wasp that lives exclusively in the Caribbean.  The toxin can create an extreme brain aneurism in its victim and dies.  He recalls that a demonic creature of Trinidadian origin known as the Soucouyant is the cause of this crime. Her wasps spark fear with a fever and paranoia that grows with ferocity within its victims.  He remembers that Judge Chrysdale presented those symptoms.  Abbie says that she read something in Gracie Dixon’s journal about an outbreak of paranoia among Washington’s men including Washington himself.  In 1776, Dixon was called by one of Washington’s top operative Betsy Ross to help Washington with some sort of crazy fever.  Abbie finds that her ancestor used some sort of tonic to counteract the toxin.  She believes that this toxin maybe the answer to stop this Soucouyant.  She notices an extra passage that first Ichabod thought it is a riddle, but he is not really sure.  Abbie gets a call from Reynolds saying that there is another victim and needs her.

Reynolds meets her at the second victim’s crime scene, a PTA chairwoman, who was at the library burning books.  Abbie calls Ichabod to tell him what is going with the second victim, but she figures out that there could be a pattern to these killings; the two victims are in position in power, the judge and the PTA Chairwoman.  Abbie notices that Reynolds is acting strange and she notices that he is bitten.  He starts questioning her loyalty towards the FBI, her sister’s involvement in the Nevins case, and her relationship with Ichabod.  He even asks her if she is going to take everything from him.  Somehow Abbie is able to subdue him and take him back to the Archives where Joe sedates him.  Ichabod discovers that the passage he thought was a riddle is actually a recipe for the tonic Dixon used on Washington.

Joe and Jenny are off to go and get the ingredients for the tonic.  They arrive at a spice shop that Jenny knows the owner, Azzaca.  During the transaction, Azzaca gets a vision and a warning to her that her fate is changed.  “A shadow older than time falls over your soul, you shall be claimed, “he said to her.  Jenny doesn’t understand what he means, but she can’t worry about that now.

Abbie gives the tonic to Reynolds, but tells Ichabod that this will only slow down the toxin; they need a more permanent solution.  They come up with a plan to stop the Soucouyant at the heart, her hive.  They locate the hive in the place where Pandora is holding up.  Ichabod notices that the location of Pandora looks like a tree that is on the tablet Ichabod found in Scotland.  A six blossom tree that resembles the six creatures Pandora has unleashed unto the world, the Soucoyant is the sixth creature.

Joe meets with Nevins to talk about his father and a photo he has of his father and him.  He wants to know about his father.  Nevins tells him that Sheriff Corbin is more like him.  He knows that there is no good, no evil, just power.  He also says that the information on the back of photo is a bank account number.  Joe has money now.  To honor the deal, Joe gives Nevin the Shard.  As they go outside Nevin’s place, Jenny ambushes them and takes the Shard away from Nevins, but it vaporizes in her hand.  Joe and Jenny are able to escape his men.

Ichabod and Abbie arrive at Pandora’s lair waiting to battle the Soucoyant.  Pandora is there as well.  As Ichabod and Abbie fight the Soucoyant, Pandora finishes her plan and they were unable to stop her from walking into the tree.  They were able to destroy the hive and the Soucoyant, but it is too late.  Ichabod fears that everything leading up to this is just a warm-up, and what come next will be the main event and get worse.

Jenny is having nightmares about ancient writings and a terrifying figure.  The Shard is effecting her and not in a nice way.

Only one more episode left before the fall finale.  Everything is coming down to the wire.  What will Pandora bring back?  Who knows, but if the Shard of Anubis has anything to do with it, then you can guess.
