This past weekend wasn’t about making a ton of money, but it was about solidifying David Ayer as a director and bringing his film, Fury, to be #1 at the Box Office. The Brad Pitt-starring war flick brought in $24.5million and serves as a good precursor to what Ayer will do when he takes over to direct the Suicide Squad film for DC.

Last weeks winner, Gone Girl, followed in 2nd place with $17.8million. Family friendly film, The Book of Life, was very close behind with $17million itself. The really wasn’t much competition after that, as you can see by the rest of the Top Ten below.

1. Fury $23.5 million

2. Gone Girl $17.8 million

3. The Book of Life $17 million

4. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day $12 million

5. The Best of Me $10.2 million

6. Dracula Untold $9.9 million

7. The Judge $7.9 million

8. Annabelle $7.9 million

9. The Equalizer $5.5 million

10. The Maze Runner $4.5 million

Next week, we have newcomers, John Wick and Ouija. Ouija looks generic as all get-out, and my money is all on John Wick. Keanu Reeves is getting praise and the movie is being lauded as his best film since The Matrix. A guy who needs to kill a bunch of people because they took out his dog? What’s not to love!?

You’ll have to find out which film takes the top spot at the next edition of the Weekend Roundup!
