Everyone knew that this weekend was going to be a battle to see who would take #1 at the Box Office. It came down to the first Disney/Marvel mashup film, Big Hero 6; and the edgy, science fiction film from Christopher Nolan, Interstellar. Drum Roll Please. Big Hero 6 came out on top with a total of $56.2million dollars!

That isn’t to say that Interstellar didn’t give it a good run for it’s money, the film premiered in 2nd place with $50million itself. This pretty much solidifies the fact that both movies will make their money back, and we’ll be seeing another Big Hero 6 film in the next few years. No one else came close in the Top Ten to these two films, as Gone Girl was in 3rd place with $6.1million. You can see the rest of the winners below.

1. Big Hero 6 $56.2 million

2. Interstellar $50 million

3. Gone Girl $6.1 million

4. Ouija $6 million

5. St. Vincent $5.7 million

6. Nightcrawler $5.5 million

7. Fury $5.5 million

8. John Wick $4.1 million

9. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day $3.5 million

10. The Book of Life $2.8 million

Next week, we have the premiers of The Foxcatcher with Channing Tatum and Steve Carrell; and Dumb and Dumber To. The first film is an indie biography and the second is a sequel to a movie that’s 20 years old. My bet is on Baymax again, but that’s just a guess of course. If you’ve read through my posts, you know that the first Dumb and Dumber is my favorite comedy of all time; but twenty years is a LONG time in between films, and I’m not sure how much money it’s going to make on nostalgia alone.
