This weekend wasn’t slated to be anything too big, but I’m a little shocked at just how slow it was at the Box Office. Maybe people were seeing Holiday recitals or doing other family activities, because they didn’t seem to want to go to the theatre. Even though the new Ridley Scott film Exodus: Gods and Kings was #1; it only brought in $24.5million of it’s $140million budget. In order for the film to not be a flop, it’ll really have to get some legs in the foreign marketplace.

On the other side is Mockingjay, which took in another $13.2million and surpassed Captain America: Winter Soldier as the 2nd highest grossing film of the year. Domestically it’s total earnings are $277.4million, putting it below the Top Spot which will most likely continue to be Guardians of the Galaxy, which sits at $332.3million. The rest of the Top Ten are below.

1. Exodus: Gods and Kings $24.5 million

2. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 $13.2 million

3. Penguins of Madagascar $7.3 million

4. Top Five $7.2 million

5. Big Hero 6 $6.1 million

6. Interstellar $5.5 million

7. Horrible Bosses 2 $4.6 million

8. Dumb and Dumber To $2.8 million

9. The Theory of Everything $2.5 million

10. Wild $1.6 million

This upcoming weekend we pretty much just have The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies. It will open up on December 17th, and make a ton of money. I’ll be seeing it on Tuesday and will be sure to have my review of it out for everyone. How much will it make? Guess you’ll just have to find out in the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
