After only taking a very minor dip, about $15million, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies remains #1 for the second weekend in a row. Given that it had no real competition with The Interview being pirated/downloaded on YouTube, Tim Burton’s Big Eyes having pretty much no marketing and Unbroken opening to tepid reviews; it was a lock to take the top spot again.

The Hobbit was able to bring in another $41.4million, while the rest of the Top Ten didn’t even do all that bad, just not as good as the Peter Jackson epic. Unbroken was able to secure 2nd with $31.7million, and the other newcomer, The Gambler took the 7th spot with $9.3 million. Big Eyes and The Interview didn’t even reach the top ten and will forever fall into obscurity. The rest of the Top Ten is below.

1. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies $41.4 million

2. Unbroken $31.7 million

3. Into the Woods $31 million

4. Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb $20.6 million

5. Annie $16.6 million

6. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 $10 million

7. The Gambler $9.3 million

8. The Imitation Game $7.9 million

9. Exodus: Gods and Kings $6.8 million

10. Wild $5.4 million

Next week, we have two horror movies which actually look really good, but will most likely not make a ton of money. First, is the sequel to Woman in Black; a film that bored me to tears and am surprised it’s getting a sequel in the first place. Second, is Rec 4: Apocalypse, which looks amazing. I love the Rec series and they are some of my favorite zombie/outbreak films. Hopefully, this film ends on a high note that makes the filmmakers enough money to fund their next project.
