I’m not going to say that I’m surprised that 50 Shades of Grey is the #1 movie in the Box Office this weekend, but I AM surprised that the film has already made almost $240 Million internationally. The steamy film secured it’s Top Spot in the United States by taking in $81.7million and more to come with Presidents Day tomorrow.

Though, this is not unexpected, I do wish that the #2 film that came out this weekend was in the #1 spot.  My choice was for Kingsman: The Secret Service to beat out 50 Shades; but with it’s earnings of $35.6million; it was not the case. Where it didn’t win in box office revenue, it did meet better critical acclaim and make more money than the premiere of the other Mark Millar and Matthew Vaughn teamup effort, Kick-Ass. Kick-Ass opened up to $19.8million, and clearly Kingsman crushed that this weekend.

You can see the rest of the Top Ten below.

1. Fifty Shades of Grey $81.7 million

3. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water $30.5 million
