We all knew what to expect when Avengers: Age of Ultron premiered over the weekend. We knew it was going to put up some HUGE numbers and though it’s not the biggest opening of all-time; it came pretty close. AOU brought in $187.7 million dollars this past weekend, which is the second biggest opening of all time behind the first film, which took in $207.4 million.

As you can imagine, the film destroyed any other movie in the Top Ten. The next closest film was the indie film, Age of Adaline with $6.3 million. Obviously that’s nothing compared to AOU, but it’s still really fantastic for the film which budget was probably only $10 million and it’s already grossed over $20 million. You can see the rest of the Top Ten below.

1. Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron $187.7 million

2. The Age of Adaline $6.3 million

3. Furious 7 $6.1 million

4. Paul Blart: Mall Cop $5.6 million

5. Home $3.3 million

6. Cinderella $2.4 million

7. Ex Machina $2.2 million

8. Unfriended $2 million

9. The Longest Ride $1.7 million

10. Woman in Gold $1.7 million

Was it bad reviews that had Age of Ultron open up to what it did? It’s a possibility. It only has a 63% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a lot of critics found the film bland and uninspired. I am not one of those critics, as you can read my raving review HERE. Whatever the case, the film has already grossed over $500 million Worldwide, and has no competiton until May 16th weekend with Mad Mad: Fury Road and Pitch Perfect 2 come out.
