Melissa McCarthy as back at the top of her game as her film, Spy, took the #1 position at the Box Office this past weekend. The Paul Feig-directed comedy took in $30million and overtook last weeks’ winner San Andreas; which was able to take in another $26.4million. This success bodes well for Feig and McCarthy, as their next pairing is going to be Ghostbusters; a film that fans of the franchise are on the fence about after the announcement of an all-female cast.
The other newcomers this week, Insidious: Chapter 3 and Entourage, brought in $23million and $10.4million respectively. This is fantastic for Insidious, as those films usually only cost less than $10million to make. HBO unfortunately was wanting to have the big opener that Sex and the City had when it premiered to over $58million in 2008. Unfortunately, this weak opening for Entourage means we most likely won’t be seeing a sequel.

Wednesday is the premiere of Jurassic World. The film already has an 8.6/10 rating on IMDB, but we’ll see how audiences react to an all-CGI cast of dinosaurs after the weekend.
