Straight Outta Compton from N.W.A. was one of the most prolific albums of Rap History and will forever be infamous within the Hip Hop community. When I first heard that there was going to be a biopic on N.W.A., I knew that if it was done right, it would be huge. Looks like I wasn’t wrong, as this weekend the film made it’s debut with $56million. That’s almost twice the budget.

The other premiere this week was Guy Ritchie‘s new film, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., that despite it’s good reviews, didn’t help it make any money. The film took in $13.5million and took the third spot. The other big upset this weekend was the 69% drop in revenue for Fantastic Four. The movie only took in another $8million and took it’s total to around $40million overall. I doubt we’ll be seeing another one of those movies for a long time. Check out the rest of the Box Office Top Ten below.

1. Straight Outta Compton $56,100,000
2. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation $17,000,000
3. The Man from U.N.C.L.E. $13,535,000
4. Fantastic Four $8,000,000
5. The Gift $6,500,000
6. Ant-Man $5,517,000
7. Vacation $5,330,000
8. Minions $5,200,000
9. Ricki and the Flash $4,570,000
10. Trainwreck $3,800,000

The next weekend we get the premiere of Hitman Agent 47 and American Ultra. Placing my bets now, I would put my money on Straight Outta Compton coming in first place again. I’m intrigued by Hitman because of the game series being good, but there was already a pretty good movie starring Timothy Olyphant before. Find out what happens on the next edition of Weekend Roundup.
