This series is another action/fantasy space show that follows a group of intergalactic bounty hunters called Killjoys.  The term Killjoys refers to their profession that carries out Kill Warrants for anybody who hires them for termination.  In a nutshell, they are hired professionals that have the authority to use lethal force to get the job done.

Set in the J Star Cluster, The Quad Planetary System (the planet Quesh and its three moons) is the main backdrop for this show where Dutch and Johnny are a couple of Reclamation Agents(a.k.a Killjoys) that apprehend fugitives for the RAC (Reclamation Apprehension Center), an independent company that uses Killjoy bounty hunters for clients that need people found.

It’s just another day for Johnny and Dutch bringing a mark or a warrant to the RAC, when Johnny sees someone from his past, Cody Andras, on Dutch’s assignment pad and it’s a Kill Warrant, Level Five.  Even though he is a bounty hunter his status is not high enough to accept this one.  Killjoys Bangarang 01He decides to use Dutch’s high level status to accept the job and go after this mark.  When Dutch finds out that Johnny went after a Level Five Kill Warrant, she is pissed that Johnny would do something so reckless.  It would mean termination of his hunting license and five years hard labor, but she decides to save his skin by going after the Level Five Warrant herself and finish the job to cover Johnny’s stupid behavior.  When Dutch tracks down Johnny, he is posing as a slaver on a slave ship, Arcturus, and fighting in a deadly MMA match with someone who is stronger and better than he is.  Dutch encounters another Killjoy, Fancy Lee, who is also after Cody Andras, but in order for Dutch to claim the warrant she would have to physically touch Cody to claim possession.  She does so by shooting him with a dart to knock him out.  She later finds out that the Kill Warrant, Cody Andras, is actually Johnny’s older brother, D’Avin, and Johnny wanted to save him from servitude.  Now Dutch has a big dilemma, D’Avin still has a Level Five Kill Warrant on his head, but is conflicted to finish the job because it’s Johnny’s brother.  She goes to her informant on Leith Bazaar, to find out who put the warrant on D’Avin.  She finds out that The Company put the mark on him.  The Company is a mega-corporation that controls The Quad Planetary System.  To help Johnny and his brother, Dutch digs a little deeper and finds out that The Company is using D’Avin to flush out someone bigger and realizes that it is actually a religious Scarback monk named Rolly Desh whom they want.  Rolly stole very damaging information about The Company and they want it back and him killed. Dutch, Johnny, and D’Avin gets information where Rolly is and travels to the main world of Quesh to find him and finish the warrant.  While searching for Rolly on Quesh, Dutch gets shot by a poison dart from Killjoy hunter Fancy Lee intended for D’Avin.  By getting shot by another Killjoy, the warrant on D’Avin is then transferred to Dutch.  Killjoys Bangarang 02Johnny and D’Avin find Rolly and chases after him, while Dutch tries to find some way to counteract the poison.  Alone and dying, Dutch sees a man from her past coming to her aid, but believes it can only be a hallucination until he touches her.  She passes out and dreams about something from her childhood about the same man where he is giving her a red box with a blade inside and teaches her how to kill.

D’Avin and Johnny corners Rolly and it’s a Mexican standoff between them.  D’Avin makes the decision to shoot and kill Rolly and tape it for Proof of Death for the Kill Warrant to hold.  They get pinned down by soldiers, but Dutch, who is mysteriously healed, steps in and takes out the soldiers.

The Kill Warrant on D’Avin is cancelled now that the real mark is dead, and The Company is satisfied with that.  Dutch had to claim the kill since D’Avin is not a Killjoy.  The aftermath of this cover up and fraud with Johnny using Dutch’s high level status, and not completing the Kill Warrant on D’Avin doesn’t sit well with Dutch’s superiors at the RAC.  However, somebody from higher authority cleared her of all infractions and she is confused by that.  D’Avin warns Johnny about Dutch.  He is suspicious of her past, her masterful fighting skills, and just her overall mysterious character.  He tells him to be careful.  Dutch walks into her room and finds a red box on her bed and dreads what comes next.
