Penny Dreadful was a surprise hit of 2014. Its gothic horror themes were filled with sensuality and violence and hard not to keep your eyes off of. At times you got a little lost in the story, but it was nowhere near as wonky as Hemlock Grove and the end result was much more enjoyable. I’m excited to see the return of the characters in Season 2, as they deal with the repercussions of their actions and we get to know them a bit better.

Penny Dreadful was created by Skyfall’s scribe, John Logan. Next season brings the return of Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney, Rory Kinnear, Billie Piper, Harry Treadaway, Helen McCrory and Simon Russell Beale. The cast will be joined by Patti LuPone, Douglas Hodge, Sarah Green and Jonny Beauchamp. No release date is set, but the first season premiered in May, so hopefully around that time.
