Announced earlier this year, Ubisoft has released a new trailer that goes over the open-world style exploration available in Unity. As you explore the districts of Revolutionary Era Paris, you can complete murder mysteries and complete interactive ‘contracts’ for specific marks. It’s not the modern city, but if A Tale of Two Cities taught us anything, there’s plenty of intrigue Assassins-Creed-Unity-2to keep you busy.

From the footage, the locales are beautifully rendered and the characters appear to have lots of personality. I’m not traditionally a huge Assassin’s Creed fan (too much parkour) but I am a fan of the French Revolution and it’s nice to see a game studio getting adventurous with their history.

One bone of contention, in the trailer, not one of the NPCs had a French accent. Everyone had a British accent, except for one gentleman who had a very nice African one. Is it THAT difficult to find a French voice actor? Do they not have an office in Montreal, Quebec? (I know their accents sound very different but they still speak French). I’m sure the narrative will explain this, and hopefully we’ll hear more French-ness from the characters when the game comes out but…this has always been a pet peeve of mine.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is being released for next-gen consoles on November 11th, 2014. For the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 you can pick up Assassin’s Creed Rogue and play solo, or not as much fun. Preorder both games HERE.
