I’ll be perfectly up front this week. There are so many independent games I’m excited to see that I’m not even going to reference the big titles coming out. Ok, maybe one, but only as a snarky comment at the end.
Planet of the Eyes will be coming out this week. I actually played this one at PAX East 2015 and met the super kind Martin Waltz of cococucumber.
I haven’t played the story version but I did play the puzzle one. While challenging at parts, it was not such a challenge that I wanted to throw my controller (which was fortunate because there was a lot of expensive equipment and people around). The art style is also very distinctive and the game itself was a joy to play. I can’t wait to play the final version. Congratulations on your release!
Back to Bed is a puzzle platformer where you play a narcoleptic named Bob who must navigate the city while sleepwalking with the assistance of his guardian Subob. It too has an interesting art style and 3D graphics.
Finally, Evoland 2: A Slight Case of Spacetime Continuum Disorder, the sequel to the much lauded Evoland, arrives. Certain to be as awesome and challenging as the original, it follows a very similar progression from 2D to 3D styles as the game evolves. The title implies some kind of tongue-in-cheek reference to a popular franchise…
And, for those of you who like Madden, this week Madden NFL 16 arrives. If you have the cover athlete on your Fantasy Football Team…well…may the odds be ever in your favor this season.
Since school is starting back up, soak in these last few weeks of freedom and get in a few games!
