March is here and you know what that means? This week we’ll be hearing from GDC, or the Game Developers Conference, the annual gathering of industry professionals, which often gives us a pulse-check on the industry. The star of last year’s conference was undoubtedly Manveir Heir, a Bioware employee working on the Mass Effect franchise (and fellow Virginia Tech alumni), who gave a speech on how the industry still struggles with diversity.
Only a few days and a few cross-country flights later, some of those same developers will be descending upon Boston for PAXEast 2015. The convention has already sent out notifications to attendees about the current situation of the city as it has battled excessive snow and bitter cold this winter. It is yet to be seen what, if any, new titles or new intellectual properties may be announced and demoed at this year’s event.

But before that happens, we have a few new game releases to get out of the way. The newest intergalactic warfare title, Helldivers, will be released on Playstation 3, 4 and the Vita. Resident Evil: Revelations 2, Episode 2 will also be released this week, and an almost-perfectly timed White Night, set in Boston, will bring a new survival horror game to the world in black and white.
And for the perennial fans of Nintendo’s Mario Party, the 10th installment of the classic series will arrive on Wii U on Friday.
