There are so few things in this life that you can truly count on. These things are so precious, so important to our lives and we end up taking them for granted. No matter where you are in your journey of life, you will always have these things. The base of which, the sun, life, your body, are all thing we could literally never live without. Yet still, we always forget these things, the things right in front of us. With all that said, my point is this, Top of The Stack is not one of those things.
Illuminati #2 (Marvel)
Joshua Williamson (W) Shawn Crystal (A)
I really want this series to be good. Two amazing creators working on this, I desperately want to like this. That may not be the case unfortunately, as I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first issue. I’ll give it some time to warm up.
Batman & Robin Eternal #11 (DC)
Ed Brisson (W) Fernando Blanco/Christian Duce (A)
Okay, let me explain that the only reason that this comic isn’t higher on the list is because there are a ton of fantastic comic coming out this week. This series is awesome. Seriously, I am kinda shocked that I enjoy it this much. With Batman Eternal there were a lot of issues that I felt went nowhere, this series every issue moves the plot ahead leaps and bounds. They trimmed the fat.
All-New Inhumans #2 (Marvel)
James Asmus/Charles Soule (W) Stefano Caselli (A)
So I can’t say that this compares to Uncanny Inhumans, but it’s pretty promising. I feel like soon these two comics will be running in tandem with each other. Only time will tell
The Goddamned #2 (Image)
Jason Aaron (W) R.M. Guera (A)
I am not sure how I feel about this comic yet. There were some gratifying high points and some lulls in the first issue. I’ll keep on because I think there is a really solid premise in this series, hopefully it grows on me.
Exodus: The Life After #2 (Oni Press)
Joshua Hale Fialkov (W) Gabo (A)
I am glad this series is back, but I’m a little concerned that it’s hitting a rough patch. I believe in the power of writing, so I know this will pass. Still think this series is one of the most overlooked series out there.
Ms. Marvel #2 (Marvel)
G. Willow Wilson (W) Takeshi Miyagawa (A)
It still has that majestic Ms. Marvel smell. I was afraid of the changes after Secret Wars, but while things are a little different (She’s totally an Avenger now) it still has that “it” factor that made it one of the best comics out.
Batman Europa #2 of 4 (DC)
Matteo Casali/Brian Azzarello (W) Giuseppe Camuncoli (A)
I really loved the first issue of this comic. I think the idea of The Joker and Batman having to join forces is one that was right there for the taking and no one came up with the story. I am pumped for the rest of this series.
The Mighty Thor #2 (Marvel)
Jason Aaron (W) Russell Dauterman (A)
It’s good to see that Loki is full blown evil again. I mean people always like when villains try to turn it around, but I think being a trickster is inherently evil, if anything, it has to be chaotic. We love to hate, why try to fight it?
Uncanny Inhumans #3 (Marvel)
Charles Soule (W) Steve McNiven (A)
This may just become my favorite Marvel ongoing. Seriously, the first two issues have been insanely interesting. I knew I’d like this series, but I am beyond blown away.
Huck #2 (Image)
Mark Millar (W) Rafael Albuquerque (A)
Dammit. That Millar fellow dun did it again. How does he manage to create so many comic book blockbuster phenomenons. Can’t have anything to do with talent. No, he has to have sold his soul to the devil. That’s the only thing that makes sense.
The Autumnlands: Tooth & Claw #8 (Image)
Kurt Busiek (W) Ben Dewey (A)
We got goats. This series is always a welcome breath of fresh air. It is an absolutely stunning piece of art and the writing ain’t too shabby either. If you haven’t started reading this, go pick up the first trade now. Do it.
Tokyo Ghost #4 (Image)
Rick Remender (W) Sean Murphy (A)
You know how things start to look up and then everything you’ve ever known is a lie and you are a fool for believing in anything that isn’t hopelessness and shit? Oh, you haven’t? I take it you’ve never read a Remender comic.
Descender #8 (Image)
Jeff Lemire (W) Dustin Nguyen (A)
Shit is about to get so real. Like realer than real. If real were reality to the power of one, so reality^1, this comic is about to get at least reality^7. Yes that’s possible. Stop questioning my mathematics and focus on what I am saying to you. REAL AS SHIT.
There it is. The end of your life. Given that your life lasts only the extent of this article. I’m sure it has been confusing, coming to consciousness , having to learn to read, and then coming to terms with your demise in minutes. It’s okay. Just go to sleep.5
