Well Towelites it has been a good few weeks since the last episode of AOS and the last time we saw our team we were left with a huge cliffhanger. Well tonight’s episode is the first in an arc that has been titled Uprising, which was promoted during the Academy Awards. So does the team save Skye? Let’s find out.
Skye was shot by Ian Quinn when Fitz and her stormed his hideout, you know when we found out that Mike Peterson is now Deathlok! Well Peterson doesn’t show up this week unfortunately, BUT we do get cameos of two new characters based on actually comic book SHIELD agents, John Garrett (Bill Paxton) and Antoine Triplett (BJ Britt). They come into the picture when Coulson refuses to give up Quinn to SHIELD until the they are able to save Skye. I really like that they have added Bill Paxton to the cast, his presence in this week’s episode upped the ante in my opinion. Also this week’s episode was a lot more SHIELD-esque, for example when the team is storming the secret facility. These are the type of situations that need to be used more often, even though there wasn’t much resistance.
So the overall plot of T.A.H.I.T.I. this week is saving Skye, who has been basically declared close to dead by the doctors who are treating her. Coulson believes that if they can find the facility that he was taken to and revived, sorry RESURRECTED, then maybe the same can be done for her. Again we get to see some great “tech” as FitzSimmons “sort” through the files in their virtual computer. One thing I’ll give this show every week is their use of neat technology and the sci-fi element. They discover a miracle drug called GH325, and they track down the location of it via the Triskelion’s database. It is also fun to watch Quinn get interrogated by everyone, or beat up in May’s case. Quinn has faith that the Clairvoyant had a plan and that everything is going to work out for the bad guys. Of course he learns the hard way that this is not the case. We have about 7 weeks or so until we find out the identity of this mystery character. Check out fellow Towelite and comic guru, Doc Palindrome’s theories here!
At the secret facility our team is met with little resistance, which they quickly put down. But the bad thing is that there is a fail safe explosive that will detonate if someone doesn’t acknowledge it on a regular basis. The team only has so long to get in, get the GH325, and get out! After locating the drug, Fitz takes it and runs to return to the bus, the rest of the team goes to follow but Coulson notices something. There is a door has T.A.H.I.T.I. marked on it, so of course Coulson is going to check it out! Coulson is horrified by what he finds, which at this point we have not seen and he immediately radios the team NOT to use the GH325 on Skye. But there’s no time to waste! Garrett finds Coulson and they get back to the BUS just in time as the facility explodes! The GH325 does its job and revives Skye, she is now stabilized. Everyone is relieved except Coulson, this of course makes May and Garrett concerned, but when asked about what he saw that changed his mind about using the drug, Coulson lies. Garrett and Trip take Quinn into their custody and return to S.H.I.E.L.D., I’m sure we will be seeing these two again soon. In a flashback, Coulson enters and sees a lot of tubes throughout the room, they are siphoning some kind of blue liquid out of a vault. He opens the vault, and in it is half, from the waist up, of a blue alien-looking being. What?! More questions, more mysteries! What is this being?! Sound off in the comments below if you have any theories!
The end credits scene this week leads right into next week’s episode featuring Lady Sif from Thor! Lorelei shows up in Death Valley California, who if you are familiar with the comics is the youngest sister of The Enchantress, a character that has not made an appearance in the movie-verse as of yet. She has the power to seduce men, which we see in the final scene of the show this week. I am really looking forward to next week’s episode Yes Men, that title really makes sense to me now. Here’s the promo!
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 8pmEST on ABC!
