Today, we learn that Shailene Woodley (The Descendants) has locked down the role of, Mary Jane, in the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man sequel. I loved The Descendants and thought that Woodley did a great job opposite George Clooney. Mary Jane’s role is only supposed to be minor in the sequel, but it will be an integral part as the studio plans to go along with the “Death of Gwen Stacey” storyline from the comics.
What do you Towelites think of the news? It’s weird to me that they can’t just cast a red-head for the role, but whatever. She’s gotta be better than Kirsten Dunst. Right?
Amazing Spider-Man 2 is expected for a May 2nd, 2014 release. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone will be back as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacey; with Marc Webb back behind the camera as director.
