Mark Millar has finally revealed what the first movie will be from his Netflix/Millarworld deal. Reborn is a comic that he created along with Greg Capullo and it’s getting some big names behind it. Sandra Bullock is set to star in the adaptation, along with Chris McKay directing. Though McKay is best known for his work in animation on films like The Lego Batman movie and the upcoming Lego Movie 2, he does have a great creative eye that could work well with the Millar property.
Reborn is a sci-fi fantasy comic that tells the story of an eighty year-old woman, Bonnie Black, who dies in a Manhattan hospital only to find herself reborn in the prime of life in the afterlife world of Adystria, a magical land of monsters and dragons where good and evil are waging an eternal war. There, she finds old friends and loved ones waiting, except the husband who died before her. Armed with a sword and partnered with her late father, she sets off through the battle-torn landscape on a quest to find out where he is.
Bullock is riding high off of her other Netflix film, Birdbox; and this could be the best property to keep her star glowing on the streaming service. The comic is put out through Image and it’s pretty freaking great if you haven’t read it. Admittedly, Millar is my favorite writer and I’m pretty biased in that I love 99% of what he puts out.
