Listen I am really excited to see more DC Comics properties take the spotlight. I love Arrow and it is definitely one of my favorite shows on TV right now, but is it possible that DC may be jumping the gun when The Flash hasn’t even shown up yet or started his own show to start exploring characters lesser known characters like Hourman? Can you successfully turn the GCDP into a cop drama that doesn’t feature Batman? Will a live action Young Justice show be successful when the animated one failed? Let’s take a look at the latest news and rumors surrounding DC Comics on the small screen.

Arrow Flash Grant Gustin

As you all may know Barry Allen, aka The Flash, will be making his debut on tonight’s episode of Arrow, The Scientist. In fact let’s take a look at a couple of clips from the episode!

I‘m excited, you’re excited, but how will this pan out? I’m looking forward to seeing how producers Kreisberg and Berlanti treat the show and if they use the same successful strategy that they applied to Arrow. I’m mostly looking forward to seeing the Rogues and more DC characters show up as this universe really starts to grow! Arrow is well-known for introducing classic characters, and this season we will also see classic Green Arrow villain William Tockman, aka the Clock King, make his debut! The villain is described as having “the mind of a chess grandmaster, and can envision all the interlocking pieces of Starling City and adjust them in favor of his crimes.” So really anyone could show up in Starling City at some point, there is even a rumor that Red Hood and The Question are being considered for the show. Check out this cryptic message that Bleeding Cool has received from their source at Warner Bros!

“Born on a Monday…”
Someone else survived the island.
Amanda makes an offer.
A better use for that clocktower.
What is the question you should have asked?
Ollie is not the first vigilante.
Not all hoods are green.
A blank expression.
“Archer”
“Rise”

There are many conclusions to be drawn from all of this and some are more obvious than others, but enough to get any DC geek overly excited, sound off in the comments on what you think some or all of this means! But let’s move to the more obscure and rumored. With the appearance of Miraclo on Arrow we know that it could lead to the appearance of Hourman, a classic hero from the JSA. Check out some plot details from the drama being developed by The CW:

Hourman JLU

[box_light]…the drug “Miraclo” from the comic book series, in the TV show will have a different effect on each person who takes it, summoning different powers and abilities based on their personality, enhancing existing talents or abilities tenfold, but with terrible side effects. And a different person will get the powers each week…[/box_light]

There really isn’t much news on the show itself, other than being in development, but it seems to have shifted from the original plot of  “a brilliant-yet-troubled pharmaceutical analyst who discovers that the visions that have plagued him since childhood are actually glimpses of tragic events occurring one hour in the future. Determined to win back his ex-wife and son, he heroically prevents these tragedies from unfolding, finding both purpose and redemption along the way”, to the “Hero of the Week” format. Well until we hear more we will have to wait and see. Though I don’t think that the appearance of Miraclo is just a coincidence.

Commissioner Gordon

Bleeding Cool has also reported from their source at WB, that the “in-development” Gotham TV show that would center around the GCPD and Jim Gordon, will actually start with Gordon investigating the deaths of Bruce Wayne’s parents. So this is going to be show that takes place in gritty Gotham before the Dark Knight shows up eh? I don’t know. At least it gives us a reason not to hope that Batman shows up every week, maybe a reason not to watch the show at all. I still think a Batman TV show on HBO or one of the other paid cable channels would be successful as long as you gave it a decent budget.

Young JusticeFinally today, Young Justice. A cartoon I loved and loathe that it got canceled. Now it is rumored that a TV show is going to be developed about team. Please just stop there. Give me back my cartoon version and call it a day. You couldn’t even successfully market a Saturday morning show and you think that by spending money on this idea will change things? Hey Warner Bros please save that cash towards Justice League, you’re going to need it.

Both Young Justice and Gotham need to go away. DC and WB have to stick within the same universe that Arrow has already successfully created. Don’t let these other networks dirty up the water when it comes to your properties DC! Stray away from Fox, just look at their track record. Get with it DC and WB, it’s time to take your properties seriously and create a cohesive, united universe. From small to big screen you could do some amazing things, I don’t want to say it, but Marvel did it successfully, why can’t you? It’s what the people want. It’s what they deserve.

Don’t forget to watch Arrow tonight at 8pmEST!

Stay tooned 😛
