As they head home from their latest tour, we spoke to the gents from Reverse Order about finding their niche, their contribution to a new family movie and being a non-profit.
Congrats on all your success. You obviously made sure to capitalize on your America’s Got Talent success straight away?
America’s Got Talent was a great experience for the band, and it definitely opened a lot of doors for us. After the show we hit the road again, and had two tours in the fall immediately following the show. The biggest thing to come out of AGT was our nonprofit, Reverse The Trend, which will be featured on 10 Van’s Warped Tour dates this summer.
What is the focus of your nonprofit, Reverse The Trend?
Reverse The Trend is a 501c.3 nonprofit music program that exists to combat the rise of bullying and bullying related suicides through live, interactive experiences. We want the focus to be on finding your passion and setting goals so that you can take all bad or negative things in your life and use them to your advantage to turn them into something good and positive.
Why did you decide to associate the band with “anti-bullying”?
After AGT we did performances in high schools along with our regular touring schedule. Students would talk to us about different issues going on in their lives, like bullying, and we realized we had faced similar issues when we were in school, and even to this day being in the band. So we created Reverse The Trend, and started bringing it to schools nationwide.
Speaking of, we see you recently contributed music to How to Beat a Bully. Is that your first soundtrack?
How to Beat a Bully was the second film we contributed music to. The first was an indie horror film, You Can’t Kill Stephen King. We currently have some additional music licensing opportunities in the works as well.
Why did your music lend itself so well to that project?
Reverse Order’s song “Not Alone (Life is Beautiful)” was written to go along with our nonprofit, Reverse The Trend. It talks about our experiences with bullying, and how no matter what happens in life you are not alone, you will overcome it, and life is beautiful. With the subject matter in the movie, it was just a great fit.
What are you currently up to?
We are currently heading home from a four month tour. Once we get home we will be preparing for this summer’s Van’s Warped Tour! If you are going, make sure you stop by our tent! We are working on some really big things that we will be presenting on the tour so stay connected and you can find more information on what we are doing at www.ReverseOrderOnline.com/Warped-Tour
