With the release of Iron Man 3 on bluray today, I wanted to have fun with the review of the release. With the help of the Diamond Select MiniMates, we’ll take a look at one of the best Marvel films to date!
The thing that made Iron Man 3 such a great movie, is that it broke all the molds on what a sequel could/should be. It wasn’t stale, not just a reshash of what we’ve seen before. In fact, it was a completely different type of Iron Man film entirely. I often compare IM3 to James Bond. Tony Stark, played by the brilliant Robert Downey Jr., loses his suits and has to rely on his superior wit and snark to defeat the bad guys. He’s stripped down to his core, and it’s the first film where he hardly spends any time in the suit.
A lot can be said about the way Downey and director, Shane Black‘s chemistry together. Marvel hit another home run with hiring the director, and the $1.2billion dollars the film made, is a testament to how great this film is. Let’s take a look back at some of the great scenes from the film,with the help of the MiniMates.
The film’s 1080p/AVC-encoded video transfer, is another reason why Disney is amazing at what it does. They spend the money to make the films, and when they release a bluray; there are none better. Add to that, Disney’s DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround track, and you have the perfect blend of audio and video as you and Jarvis travel the atmosphere and fire repulser cannons.
The best part of Iron Man 3 is arguably RDJ, but let’s not forget the fantastic supporting cast. Ben Kingsley as Mandarin, Guy Pearce as Killian, Rebecca Hall as Maya Hansen, James Badge Dale as the Extremis Soldier, Savin and Don Cheadle returns as Iron Patriot/War Machine/Rhodey.
