Casey keeps telling me that I have to watch The Boys on Amazon Prime Video and I totally agree with him. Though I have a hefty list of shows I have to get through, I do want to prioritize my binging of this comic adaptation. Dynamite Entertainment has announced a slew of merchandise based on both the show and the comic so check it all out below!
The Boys Collectibles Unleashed for the Holidays!
New Omnibus Volume, Trading Cards, Enamel Pins & Money!
August 29, Mt. Laurel, NJ: Diabolical! Everyone and their mother has watched The Boys on Prime Video by now! If they haven’t, they need to get on that ASAP! Dynamite is treating new The Boys fans and those going back over a decade to an avalanche of awesome collectibles and merchandise – just in time for the holiday season!
As the new paperback omnibus editions of The Boys sell like crazy, Dynamite is reprinting them as well as making sure retailers have everything they need to satisfy today’s supes-hating Boys. Including trading cards, enamel pins and even some limited edition collectible currency!
Right off the bat, the hotly anticipated fifth omnibus is out right on time for the gift-giving season! The longrunning plot comes to a head in this volume, as the main story reveals backstory on The Boys as an organization and teases the upcoming conflicts. Also included in this book is the essential origin story of Billy Butcher in his spinoff miniseries Butcher, Baker, Candlestickmaker. Featuring writing front to back by master Garth Ennis and art by co-creator Darick Robertson and co-conspirators John McCrea, Russ Braun and Keith Burns. This penultimate volume is available with a cover by Robertson spotlighting Frenchie or a photo from the show with his crush The Female. Additionally, the first three volumes of The Boys omnibuses art covers are available signed and remarked by artist Darick Robertson, while the photo editions will be available signed by writer Garth Ennis.
Joining this set is one featuring The Seven, with cards spotlighting the love-to-hate sensation Homelander, fan-favorite Starlite, body pulverizer A-Train and two connecting cards depicting the entire team. These superheroes are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods, but often abuse their powers. Except Starlite, she’s pretty cool. Artist co-creator Darick Robertson will be signing all of the primary Homelander cards. Each set comes packaged with a certificate of authenticity.
Fans can wear their love for their new favorite antiheroes on their sleeves! Dynamite is producing the first-ever collectible enamel pins for this iconic “meta” superhero epic. In addition to a standalone pin reproducing the iconic logo, a five-piece set of pins featuring the core members of The Boys. Affix them to your bag and radiate that “F**k Supes!” energy!
For those Vought bootlickers out there, they can stock up on the new two-dollar bill of the Boys with Homelander’s smug face plastered over it. Dynamite is bringing a piece of that thankfully fictional world into ours with this limited edition collectible bill. Created using a revolutionary, high-definition coloring process and Darick Robertson’s legendary artwork, this $2 bill is authentic U.S. legal tender. Each bill comes with a full-color certificate of authenticity and is handsomely showcased in a two-sided display folio in fresh, crisp, uncirculated condition. Yes, you can buy a soda with it, as long as that soda is less than two bucks!
If your snack run requires more than two dollars, Dynamite has your back with some change as well! Dynamite is continuing their line of collectible coins with four genuine John F. Kennedy Half-Dollars sporting Robertson’s hallmark character designs. These colorized pieces are additionally plated in 24-karat gold to further enhance the artwork. The four coins feature the most beloved characters from the series, including Butcher, Hughie, Homelander and Starlite.
“The Boys has far exceeded the expectations we had back in 2006 when we picked up this daring, controversial title as a young publisher,” said Nick Barrucci, Dynamite CEO and Publisher. “Garth and Darick went on to a colossal achievement of a 90-issue run, practically unheard of in independent comics. The Prime Video show has allowed this inventive take on the superhero genre to reach a whole new audience, and these fun collectibles are the perfect way to engage with all the new fans!”
The Boys Trading Cards, Enamel Pins, Two-Dollar Bill and Collectibles Coins will be solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ August and September 2019 Previews catalogs, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in October and November 2019.
