We knew that when Paramount obtained the rights to the Friday the 13th franchise, we would be hearing of a new film soon enough. Series producer, Sean S. Cunningham, has stated he wanted to see Jason Voorhees return to the big screen and today we have news of a date. March 13th, 2015 will see the return of Crystal Lake.
Here’s the release date announcement:
Paramount sets FRIDAY THE 13th for March 13, 2015. Not a sequel to the reboot, mind you, another reboot entirely.
I’m not sure that I want to see another reboot of yet another franchise; especially a horror one. It will be different to see Clive Barker take on Hellraiser, since he wrote the original; but Friday the 13th could easily just put Jason in another adventure and EVERYONE in the world already knows who he is. Blah.
That all being said, I’m still excited to see ‘ol Hockey Mask return to the big screen. It’s been since 2009, and that’s far too long to see a Friday the 13th film. As more news comes in, Stay Tuned to DFAT for your Friday the 13th news!

I liked the old remake. It fit the first three films in without losing too much of the originals. I know it was Michael Bay, but it was, at the very least, watchable. I couldn’t get through Nightmare on Elm Street or the Rob Zombie Halloween.
Haloween 2 from Rob Zombie was watchable. Completely horrid but watchable. I don’t mind the Nightmare but only cause of Jackie Earl. Since Freddy has always been my main slasher, it bordered on deplorable. I think the chainsaw reboot was awesome
I have to agree with Doc on the Jason remake, I enjoyed that one. The Halloween (being my favorite slasher films) I HATED. I agree with Casey that part two was “watchable” but still not what I wanted in terms of a modern day telling of Michael Myers. I did however enjoy the Nightmare remake, I was never a big Freddy fan (sorry Casey), well except New Nightmare, but the remake gave the series a totally different tone that I enjoyed and Earl was a good, different, Freddy.
