Wesen of the Week
Varme Tyv– “Heat Thief”, a Norwegian snake like wesen that is a cold blooded creature that needs body heat to stay alive. Unfortunately, they require a massive amount of body heat to prevent themselves from freezing to death. With no choice, they would have to survive on other people’s body heat and that would mean killing them in the process.
This week Nick is fighting two battles: Juliette and a Varme Tyv that is dropping corpsicles in Portland. Juliette’s personality is changing and not for the better. Renard is struggling trying to keep his old wounds from resurfacing and to keep his sanity intact. Everybody from Monroe to Renard are fighting personal battles this week and trying to keep their lives together and not fall apart.
The Good
- Juliette’s personality has changed due to her transformation into a HexenBeist. Her powers are growing. Her main objective this week is to find Adalind and kill her for what she has done to her and Nick.
- Monroe is having PTSD from his experience with the Wesenrein.
- Nick remembers what his aunt said to him about Juliette. She warns him that being a Grimm, he can never have a relationship with her and never to see her again; that misfortunes will always be with you.
- Prince Kenneth wants to use Juliette’s relationship with the Grimm and his mother to find Adalind’s baby.
- Juliette finally reveals herself as a Hexenbeist to Monroe and Rosalee. They freak out, but try to reassure her that they will do whatever it takes to cure her. Juliette doesn’t have faith in them and blames them for this, especially Nick.
- Nick, Hank, and Wu track down the Varme Tyv to a house where there are a large number of them hibernating down in the basement.
- Hibernaculum is a dwelling where the Varme Tyv sleep during the cold winter using their body heat to keep them alive.
- Nick decides that since the Varme Tyv are not all bad, and will die if they don’t get body heat, that he will leave them where they are and let them hibernate.
The Bad
- It is unclear why Juliette had to have sex with Renard.
- What is going on with Renard and his old gunshot wounds bleeding again?
- Is Juliette lost forever from Nick?
This week the gang is facing a lot issues that can’t be solved in one week. Nick’s return as a Grimm is creating more problems than solutions. Is Monroe’s PTSD a future problem for him and Rosalee? It looks like Kenneth is starting to become a problem for Nick as well as Renard. Next week, Juliette’s transformation will get her into more trouble and Nick doesn’t know how to stop it.
