Just in time for the convention season our “favorite” toy company Hasbro has revealed two figures that are on the top of every collector’s want-list. Let’s take a look at the two sets we will NEVER get our hands on.

For Celebration Europe it has been revealed that an unmasked Kylo Ren figure will be available at the Forbidden Planet booth.  This version of the figure featuring the likeness of Adam Driver SHOULD have been the figure that we got with the exclusive K-Mart Starkiller Base, BUT NO Hasbro needed to get these figures out BEFORE the movie hit and decided to muck things up as usual. The only cool thing that we may not get with the regular release is the melted Vader helmet. Some are not big Kylo fans and don’t like his character. Me, I feel that he is one of the more complex characters (not to mention more powerful) we have encountered in the Star Wars universe. I really want this version of him in my collection.

Second up, and even more infuriating, is our first 6-inch figure of old man Obi Wan from A New Hope. This is one of the most requested figures for Black Series collectors and it’s a true pisser that the exclusive set will only be at SDCC this year. I mean seriously if you want to lose an arm Ponda Baba style you can try and battle back the rabid nerds and scalpers who will be attacking the Hasbro booth like they did last year for that First Order Stormtrooper. Seriously, fuck that. Old Ben will be packed with a table and holo-Princess Leia. I can do without both of these things as long as this figure becomes available to us normal folk.

Now before we all go and get our nerd panties in a bunch, it is VERY likely that these figures will be made available on Hasbro Toyshop after the conventions (good luck with that) and eventually at retail with more of a barebones pack. It has happened with all of their previous exclusive convention figures, but of course without the exclusive accessories that are packed with the special sets. Personally I don’t really care about any of the extras that come with the figures I just want them for my collection. It’s not like they’re a Han in Carbonite like the Boba set, the one accessory we are all STILL waiting for. But as usual Hasbro has decided to take a dump on their fans’ chests and make the scalpers even more wealthier as we all attempt to collect them all.
