Things are getting worse in Haven.  A Trouble is killing people in the dark.  Dwight and the Guard rally everybody in the high school to make sure they are safe.  Because the Trouble is using the darkness to kill people, Dwight tries to make sure that everybody is in the light.  Lamps, flashlights, even Trouble people with light curses are extremely helpful, but unfortunately are the causes of a lot of disruption within the people.  To keep order, Dwight uses exile for troublemakers and sent them outside.  But actually he uses a sleeping Trouble in put them all to sleep and hide them away.  He doesn’t want to kill them; he just wants to keep them in line.  Audrey finds out about this and is furious that Dwight would use a Trouble to gain his control over the people.

Power is failing all over Haven and Nathan decides to go and restore power at the power plant.  He recruits a small group of people to help him: Dave who has blue prints of the plant, an engineer who can bring the power back, Kira, an energy charging Trouble as a back up, and Charlotte because she is a scientist and may come in handy.  Unfortunately, the engineer gets killed on their way to the plant.  Charlotte tells Nathan that Aether is the key to helping the Troubles, but they’re going to need lots of it.  Nathan mentions that William had a huge stash of it.  Dave told them that he can get a detector to locate the Aether.

Outside of Haven, Duke is trying acclimate himself into the world by working as a mechanic in a local garage.  But trouble finds him when his boss starts to get suspicious of him when he can’t find any information on him.  Thinking that he is going to get caught and fired, he calls an old friend, Monty Colton, hoping to find him another job and soon.  He gets a visit from a young woman who claims to be the daughter of his old friend, Monty Colton, Hailie..  She claims to have inherited his father’s gambling debt and people are looking for her.  He tries to help her, but when he tries to get money from his bank, they claim that there is no town called Haven anywhere.  This is the second time he is told that Haven doesn’t exist.  His boss overhears Duke and Hailie talk about her father’s past and his Trouble ability.  He tries to cash in on Hailie’s inherited curse and attempts to take her away for some illegal heist with her curse.  Duke stops him by hitting him with a car, but Hailie is unharmed by phasing through Duke’s car to avoid getting hit.  They both drive away.

Nathan reaches the plant and tries to restore power back.  Kira uses her Trouble curse to help, but she almost overloads the reactor.  Thankfully the plant has a circuit breaker to compensate the overload, but it drains most of the power and only restores nearly half of the power to the town and night is approaching fast.  It means that the town will not get full power in time before darkness falls and could mean more victims for the Darkness Trouble.  Dave finds the Aether locating device and Nathan gets a signal right away.  He and Kira go to look for it.  Dave and Charlotte talk about where he came from.  She tells him that he is a Halfling (part human/part what Charlotte is).  Unfortunately she knows little about his kind.  Nathan finds the spot where William’s Aether might be located.

Thankfully the power is up and Charlotte and Dave return to the school.  Nathan follows behind them, but Kira is not with him.  Her husband ask him what happened, he regretfully informs him that Kira got killed by the Darkness.  Immediately her husband accuses him of murdering her and demands justice.

Next episode Nathan is put on trial for the murder of Kira.  Has his mission to find the cure the Troubles gone too far?  How will Dwight handle this and will Audrey find a way to save Nathan?
