Yeah, now that Audrey is back everything can go back to normal, right? I don’t think so. Haven is still a messed up place to live. In this episode, Nathan and Duke try to hide Mara from the Guard and everybody else until Dwight comes back. It seems that Dwight can keep the Guard in check when Mara is around, but now that he is taking some personal time, the wolves are circling the prey. Nathan is overjoyed that Audrey is back, but is concerned that she might still be in danger due to the fact he can’t feel her. His conclusion is that her immunity against the Trouble is gone after her miraculous return, and that she may still be psychically connected to Mara.
To change the subject, Nathan gets a call about several missing people in Haven. Audrey feels this is a perfect opportunity to prove to the people that she is back and can be trusted again. When they arrive at the first victim’s house, she gets a very cold welcome from the victim’s wife and the other police officers. The wife says that when her husband came back from the Farmers Market in Haven, a flash of light appeared and all that is left of her husband is a shadowy silhouette on the wall. Nathan says it looks like something that occurs to victims at ground zero of a nuclear blast. Afraid that Audrey will get hurt from the Trouble, he asks her to sit this one out, reluctantly she agrees. Thinking he will get answers at the Farmer’s Market he heads into town. While searching for answers he meets up with Reggie, one of the Guard. Nathan asks him if he is the one who started this Trouble, he denies it. Reggie is furious that Nathan would help Mara and not give her to the Guard. He then threatens Nathan that if Mara causes anymore pain in Haven, she will have to answer for that. Nathan goes back to the police station and calls Audrey to update her on the investigation. While talking to Audrey, he disappears just like the other vanishing Haven citizens, but somehow he is still in the station. When a fellow officer walks in and notices a shadowy silhouette on the floor, she believes that Nathan is killed by the Trouble. Nathan tries to communicate with the officer, but realizes that even though he can hear and see everything, nobody else can hear or see him. He realizes that he is in some sort of ghostly phased state and finds out that there are other “phased” people walking around Haven who suffered the same fate as Nathan. Audrey continues forward with the investigation and begins asking around town to see who is responsible for the Trouble. She gets information that Reggie can be the Trouble person responsible for this because she sees a photo of him and Nathan arguing at the Farmer’s Market. Nathan goes to Duke’s boat where they are hiding Mara, and realizes that Mara can see him, because she is immune with the Troubles. She refuses to help him, unless she gets something in return. Nathan gets Mara to confess to Duke that she can see Nathan and get her to help him. Nathan finds out that Audrey is kidnapped by the Guard after one of their own is “phased” out. Mara tells Duke that she can see and hear Nathan and that Audrey is kidnapped by the Guard. After Duke threatens Mara, she decides to tell Duke where the Guard is holding her. But Mara tells him that if the Guard finds out that she is not Mara, she will die.
Once Duke saves Audrey from the Guard, Nathan begins to relax a little. He goes to find his fellow “phased” out ghosts, but finds one of them shot dead at the Haven cemetery with a message on one of the grave stone, “even ghost can die”.
It’s nice for a break from the main story arc of the season. Who is killing the “phased” out ghosts? Next episode is the conclusion of the “Nowhere Man”. We’ll get to see who is person responsible of the Trouble. How is Nathan going to figure this curse out? Is Audrey safe? We’ll see next week.
