This is the second episode of an eight part miniseries.  Leo and Max searches for Mia (Anita) and runs into trouble.  Laura’s suspicions of Anita’s strange behavior intensify as she watches her around house.  Peter’s jealousy of his Synth, Simon, grows as Simon takes care of his disabled wife, Jill.  Dr. Millican receives an unwanted guest in his house and puts Odi in danger of being discovered and recycled.

Humans ep2 01The Good

  • Leo and Max confront the man who took their family away, Silas Kapek. Leo finds out that Mia (Anita) received a full memory wipe and sold to a Synth dealership.  Leo gets injured by Silas and his goons.  Max comes and rescues him but exposes his secret as a conscious Snyth to Silas.
  • Mathilda’s behavior toward a Synth at her school leads her to getting in trouble. Her attitude towards Synths is apathetic and cold.
  • Laura feels that Anita is withholding the truth about her whereabouts the night before and her taking Sophie outside without Laura’s permission.
  • George Millican, one of the founding creators of the Synths gets a new Synth upgrade, Vera, in replacing his old D-Series, Odi. George tells the case worker that Odi has been recycled, but actually George is hiding him in the shed.
  • Toby Hawkins tries to make a sexual advance towards Anita, but she puts him in his place.
  • Niska kills a “John” at the brothel when he goes too far and demands her to pretend to be scared and young while having sex with her. She walks out of the brothel and rips out a small metallic device in the back of her neck.
  • Peter feels unwanted and jealous of his Synth, Simon. He feels that Jill, his wife, prefers Simon to take care of her.  His performance at work is affected by this.
  • Millican is disappointed at how these Synths are made. He refers to Vera as his jailer, not his caretaker.
  • Laura gets fed p with Anita’s odd behavior and takes her back to the dealership. While Laura isn’t looking, Anita quietly smiles.
  • Leo is not actually a human but a fully conscious Synth. Max saves his life by plugging him into a light socket to get a full recharge.

Humans ep2 02The Bad

  • Hobbs is still mystery to me.
  • Matilda’s behavior makes her a very difficult person to empathize, after her attempt to hack into a Synth for her amusement.
  • Laura’s paranoia of Anita is somewhat unwarranted. She looks like someone who is biased against anything new in their household.
  • There isn’t enough information about the history of the Synths.
  • Where is Fred being held and why does he have images of Anita swimming underwater?

These episodes are drawing sides as to who is for and against the Synths.  By the time the episode ends, the conscious Snyths are starting to show their emotional sides and begin their path towards independent freedom.  But it is going to be an uphill battle for them.
