Well, it looks we have our next piece in the Justice League puzzle, as Jason Momoa has been cast as Aquaman in the upcoming, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice film. The movie is being directed by Zack Snyder, as a prequel to the Justice League film; which will be shot back-to-back with BvS.
Momoa has been rumored to play the blonde-haired amphibian for some time now, but he’s always brushed off reports. At the Bucharest Comic Con last month, he even laughed off the idea.
“I know, Aquaman! I couldn’t even be more random for Aquaman, you know, with the blonde hair… I don’t even know where that comes from – it’s like me being… uh… Robin or something. Who pulls that out? I see that on the internet and I’m like, Aquaman? A guy like… Lobo I could see.“
They’ve been trying to get the character out of the water for some time now, going as far back as Entourage, with James Cameron directing a big screen adaptation of the comic. Of course, Smallville had Aquaman and the CW went even further, to pilot a first episode of a television series.
Momoa will join a cast that includes: Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), and Ray Fisher (Cyborg) in the upcoming film. This only leaves: Martian Manhunter, The Flash, and Green Lantern to fill out the rest of the team.
