After the blowout with D’Avin, Dutch is trying hard to avoid any contact or conservation with him in order for her to figure out what she is going to do next. Johnny makes a plan to force D’Avin and Dutch to confront their issues and the Black Rain is approaching Old Town. Dr. Pawter Simms dark secret is revealed and she has to overcome her fear of failure to save a man’s life.
- Johnny uses a low level Warrant to force Dutch and D’Avin to start working together.
- Johnny is stuck in Old Town at the Royale with Dr. Pawter while the Black Rain passes them. He realizes that something is wrong when he sees a Company Security Guard get an alert about a break in and notices that the thieves are here at the Royale waiting out the acid rain storm.
- The leader Kal gets shot and is seriously wounded by the Company Guard. The second in command of the criminal group demands that Kal get medical attention. Pawter volunteers.
- Johnny finds out that Dr. Pawter is a Jakk addict and she is crashing.
- D’Avin is having trouble getting through to Dutch. He wants her to lash out, get angry, do something for what he did to her and Johnny. She simply says that she can’t because if she did, she would kill him and she doesn’t want that.
- Johnny helps Dr. Pawter with surgery in order to save Kal’s life, but her withdrawal is getting worse. Earlier he was able to attain a single Jakk dose for her to get through the operation.
- D’Avin comes up with a plan to get Dutch vent some of her anger, but it doesn’t work. D’Avin finally realizes that her trust in him is gone and he knows what must be done.
- Back at the Royale, Dr. Pawter saves Kal, but the tension escalates when one of the criminals forces the Company guard out into the acid rain, but Johnny is able to bring him back into the bar. Johnny takes matters into his own hands and kills the criminals to end their hostage issue.
- Johnny meets up with D’Avin and he decides to leave the ship, but Johnny doesn’t react. But he does give D’Avin a piece of his mind about everything that has happened ever since he came on board and his desertion of him with his parents. D’Avin asks Johnny what can he do to make up for all his mistakes, but he tells D’Avin that he is tired of cleaning up and fixing up his messes and he has to figure it out for himself.
Johnny finally steps up and vents out all his frustration with his brother. Ever since D’Avin came on board Lucy and became a team member, his demons and secrets started to show and Dutch and Johnny suffered for it. I’m not sure where this leaves the team, but I still feel that D’Avin is crucial to their survival for what is coming in the near future. Khlyen is still out there and he must be stopped. I also sense that there is a war brewing between the Company and the Westerlyns. Dutch and her team must choose a side, even if the RAC motto states the Killjoys are neutral.
