The Age of Ultron is nearly upon us as the new Avengers film hits US theaters this weekend. Of course with the release of this sure to be mega-blockbuster comes a plethora of merchandise to fill your shelves and toy chests with. LEGO Hulkbuster 01As usual, LEGO doesn’t miss a beat with their amazing building blocks! The latest in the Marvel Super Heroes line are the Avengers: Age of Ultron sets based on some of the scenarios from the film. From what we’ve seen so far from trailers it appears that most of these are pretty spot on when it comes to events in the film.

Previously I checked out the The Hydra Fortress Smash (review here) and keeping with the theme of Hulk smashing and all, comes The Hulk Buster Smash. Of course we are all very excited to see this new suit in action, the fight between Tony Stark and the Hulk looks to be pretty epic! The same can be said about this set! I picked up both of these sets because they contained MiniFigures of the ‘Twins’, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Of course this was a major selling point for me, along with the Quinjet set that includes the Vision. I still have to snag that set, once I find room for another LEGO jet in my Geek Den.

The Hulk Buster Smash will run you around 30 bucks and for what you get in this set I was pretty happy. Scratch that, I was VERY happy.

What impresses me the most is the assortment of MiniFigures at this price point; specially with two new characters. You get the Scarlet Witch and Ultron both being included. It’s nice NOT to feel compelled to pick up all seven sets just to get all the characters I want. Iron Man is also thrown in there of course. Who else is going to pilot that suit?! Ultron is a neat figure, I like the additional piece that goes between the head and torso, it’s a nice touch. LEGO has been creating better and better Minifigures throughout the years by adding neat little details like that. The Hulk isn’t new to me, he came packed with the Hydra Fortress set, but again this assortment of figures is impressive.

The main build of the set is the Hulk Buster armor itself and while this is an easy set to put together, it’s still pretty amazing. Size-wise the suit is a little bigger than it is in the movie, just take a look at the size comparison with the Hulk MiniFigure. Nonetheless it is a cool suit and kids will love putting Iron Man into it and sending him into battle! The suit has a battle feature, which most sets come with these days. The hand can fire “missiles” a feature I was surprised at first that LEGO would include. These puppies actually have some force behind them so don’t shoot your eye out, as they say.

The Hulk Buster Smash is the perfect set if you are thinking of only getting one and even more rewarding if you decide to get all of them. It’s the perfect set for kids as it’s not too labor intensive and a quick build. One of my favorite features of the set is the clear “flying” stick that allows you to emulate all sorts of neat action, especially if you are into toy photography like I am. Check out Avengers: Age of Ultron this weekend as it’s sure to become the highest grossing movie of all time and beat out… Avengers. Hmmm do you think the world loves superheroes? I do!
