For those of you that were skeptical about the Star Wars license jumping from Dark Horse to Marvel Comics, some great news has emerged from SDCC. Earlier this week it was announced that Marvel would be starting things off with a Princess Leia comic, but at the big show this weekend a total of three titles were revealed!
The first of three, set to launch this January, is titled simply Star Wars and will be written by superstar author Jason Aaron (Thor: God of Thunder) with art by John Cassaday (Uncanny Avengers). The story line is set to take place after the destruction of the first Death Star and follow the adventures of Luke, Han, Leia, and crew as they take on Darth Vader.
In February we will see a Darth Vader centered story called Star Wars: Darth Vader. The story also takes place after Episode IV as Vader is dealing with the Empire’s loss to the Rebellion. The story will be written by Kieron Gillen (Iron Man) with art by Salvador Larroca (Avengers)
Finally, the already announced Star Wars: Princess Leia gets a superstar team with Mark Waid (Daredevil) with Terry Dodson (X-Men) taking on art. Again, this book will take place after Episode IV and it will deal with Leia’s adventures and her dealings after the destruction of her home world. The title is set to start in March.
What do you think Towelites? A strong start for the Star Wars franchise at their new home? Are you excited about the creative teams? Sound off in the comments!
May the Force be with You!
