Towelites! Not only do we have news for you about Marvel Studios’ Phase 2 BUT ALSO PHASE 3! Read on true believers!
News broke yesterday from Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige about when exactly Ant-Man would fall in terms of the story-lines’ “phases”. The Edger Wright directed film was originally slated to come out the fall of 2015, following the release of the MEGA-blockbuster Avengers 2, leaving fans wondering where in the timeline the character would be introduced. Feige shed some light on this and also made a huge announcement regarding Phase 3 and a certain Sorcerer Supreme ! Check it out:
“Ant-Man’ is definitely part of Phase Three. Like ‘Iron Man 3,’ it’s certainly set in the Marvel Universe, but it’s also through the lens of Edgar Wright — which is the only reason we’re making the movie…I’ve known Edgar since our first lunch together at Comic-Con in 2004. He asked me what Marvel was doing with ‘Ant-Man’ — we weren’t even a studio then; what a difference eight years makes! It’s very much an ‘Ant-Man’ origin movie from the perspective of Edgar Wright and his co-writer Joe Cornish. It will of course be firmly planted in the MCU, but a different corner than we’ve seen before. Beyond that… ‘Ant-Man’ is the only one officially announced, but you probably don’t have to look too far to guess at the next list of characters we’re toying with and beginning to develop…’Doctor Strange,’ which I’ve been talking about for years, is definitely one of them. He’s a great, original character, and he checks the box off this criteria that I have: he’s totally different from anything else we have, just like ‘Guardians of the Galaxy.’ He’s totally different from anything we’ve done before, as is ‘Ant-Man,’ which keeps us excited.”
Time to get excited fans! So now it makes me wonder how much of a role Thanos will actually play this time around, will Marvel try to incorporate the Infinity Gauntlet story-line later on down the line? Who knows, let’s get through these next 3 years first!

Sometimes it’s best when a director can write his own film, especially when that director is James Gunn. Here’s what Marvel Comic’s Guru, and current GOG comic book scribe, Brian Michael Bendis had to say about the current status of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie:
“I’m not allowed to say anything specific — it’s a great script. It really turned out great. James Gunn did a really great job. I read the last draft — “Oh please, don’t suck, because I’ve already invested part of my life into this — and I was like, “Oh, this is great! This is going to be a lot of fun! It’s a very unique experience of writing the comic while the movie is getting ready to go. Every day people hear something about the movie. That’s very cool, because we’ve been helping with it secretly for years. A nice surprise. (casting buzz) It wasn’t fully planned this way, but it is cool that there’s always some Guardians of the Galaxy news in the nerd press every day.”
