Creators of Game of Thrones, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff just hit the jackpot…again. First, they brought fantasy back to the mainstream and produce one of the greatest television series of all-time. Now, they’ve been announced to write and produce their own Star Wars films. From ComingSoon we have a quote from Kathleen Kennedy.
“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”
This is a dream of a lifetime for them as well and they couldn’t be more excited.
“In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since,” Benioff and Weiss said in a joint statement. “We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.”
We know that the final season of Game of Thrones is due out next April, so I’m sure we won’t be seeing their films for a long-time; but its very great news nonetheless. The films will be separate from the saga films which MAY end in 2019 and the previously announced trilogy from Rian Johnson.
