As most of you know, here at DFAT John Carpenter is one of our all time favorite directors. For the tenth installment of the Halloween series, Carpenter will return to the franchise and as he quotes to EW, “Thirty-eight years after the original Halloween I’m going to help to try to make the 10th sequel the scariest of them all”. This sounds pretty awesome if I may say so myself.
Carpenter began the series back in 1978 by introducing us to the slasher known as Michael Myers, telling the story of his relentless hunt to wipe out his family and all that stood in his way. Carpenter also provided the classic theme that haunts our dreams, as he usually did with most of his movies. Carpenter is currently on the road with a concert series based on his two hit albums “Lost Themes” and “Lost Themes II”. Casey, the Seavage, and I will be attending the one in NYC so stayed tuned for a glorious podcast.
The Halloween franchise was rebooted by Rob Zombie with two installments that most of us would like to forget about and we all feel it is proper time for the master of suspense to return to what he does best. Miramax and Blumhouse Productions will both be involved in the production of the project, along with producer Malek Akkad whose father Moustapha worked on the original film. I am a huge fan of the series, even through its ups and downs, and I am ready for John Carpenter to put his magical touch back into the series. Let’s hope that he does the soundtrack as well!
