When you think about your favorite action movies from the 80’s and even the 90’s, who are the major actors that stand out to you? Arnold? Sly? KURT RUSSELL?!

Undoubtedly, Kurt Russell is one of my favorite actors ever. But with so many roles under his belt, which ones are my personal favorites? Let’s take a step back in time and take a look at my Top 5 Kurt Russell roles!

Kurt Russell Stargate Jack ONeill5.) Col. Jack O’Neil in Stargate (1992) – Before MacGyver took on the role, there was the original Stargate movie. One of my favorite sci-fi movies of all time, Stargate would pave the road for the TV series. Leading the the team was no other than stone-faced Col. Jack O’Neil, oh and that Blacklist Ultron guy was pretty good as well.

Kurt Russell Tombstone4.) Wyatt Earp in Tombstone (1993) – One of my favorite movies of all time, so you may ask why this one isn’t higher on the list? Well though I love Russell in this role there are other reasons why I LOVE this movie. Like Val Kilmer’s Doc Holiday, another guy who deserves one of these lists. Maybe I’ll be his Huckleberry.

Kurt Russell Big Trouble in Little China3.) Jack Burton in Big Trouble in Little China (1986) – So begins the top three and you may notice a pattern here. They are all John Carpenter movies and John Carpenter loved Kurt Russell. BTILC is an amazingly odd action film that holds a special place in my heart, maybe I should do a John Carpenter list at some point as well…

Kurt Russell The Thing2.) R.J. MacReady in The Thing (1982) – Gah, this movie! I love it! An isolation horror movie with weird aliens that take over peoples bodies and a bunch of guys who have to take them out. Kurt Russell running around with a flame thrower is one of the best action scenes since Alien… oh wait.

Kurt Russell Snake Plissken1.) Snake Plissken in Escape from New York (1981) & Escape from L.A. (1996) – BEST ACTION HERO EVER. EVER! Maybe it’s the Snake action figure on my shelf, maybe it’s the fact I want to dress up like him every year for Halloween. But this president rescuing anti-hero is a true badass. If they ever reboot this movie I will probably have to punch someone.

Oh and this one gets a honorable mention:

Elvis Kurt RussellElvis in Elvis (1979) & Forrest Gump (1994)

The role he was born to play!
