Throughout our lifetime, there are certain things that shape us into the people that we become. One such experience, is the first time I saw Predator. I was a young tyke, too young to watch an alien hunt humans throughout a jungle; but it was that first viewing that took me down a path filled with xenophobes and ugly mother…you know the rest.
The Geek Gods have shined upon us, as we get word from HollyWeird that Shane Black and Fred Dekker have teamed back up to work on a Predator reboot script. Black has been writing some of the best movies of all time the past 25 years (Iron Man 3, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, The Long Kiss Goodnight), and coupling with Dekker, his Monster Squad co-writer, is a geek dream come true!
It’s rumored that Black will pen the treatment, while Dekker finishes off the screenplay. Black will then direct the film, and we’ll all be graced with the most hilarious Predator movie of all time. Well, one can only hope. I enjoyed Predators, but it wasn’t nearly as good as the books out there. I would flip out if they did an adaptation Predator: Concrete Jungle. It involves the brother of Dutch (Arnie’s character from the first film) and takes place in the city. Yes, they kinda did that with Predator 2; but this one has far less Gary Busey.
As more Predator reboot news comes down, we’ll keep you posted here at DFAT!

When we initially heard this report, it was a Reboot that was being talked about. Black and Dekker dispelled that rumor by addressing the rich history of the previous Predator films.
“As far as Fred and I are concerned anyway,” said Shane, adding “Why start over, when you’ve all this rich mythology yet to mine?” The director explained that he’s not fond of reboots but can “really get behind inventive sequels”, further explaining that “the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button.”
The only question now is, “Is this a sequel to Predator 2 or Aliens vs Predator: Requiem?”
