Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith is the best Star Wars Prequel. That is like the best coleslaw: still crappy due to it being coleslaw but there are people out there that like coleslaw. I think the only reason people liked it was because there couldn’t be any more prequels. I didn’t really dive into the plot of the other movies so much and I don’t really plan to here either. Most of the gripes I have with these have been done to death by many other critics. I suggest checking out Nostalgia Critic, Honest Trailers, CinemaSins, and Screen Junkies on YouTube. They have great videos on all the Star Wars prequels.
Will someone shut Beldar up about the discount double check?
You may be asking: “Tim, why are you suggesting I check out other critics? What are you doing?” Solid questions. First, I don’t know if I’m a critic so much as I am an editorialist that pics movies. I guess I review them too but I don’t do the whole in depth analysis. I guess I do that a little too. Secondly, I don’t know what I’m doing. I suppose I just write what feels right after the movie I watched for no good reason and the DFAT webmasters will post the ones they like. I like to write short articles so you don’t look at a wall of text and think “OK, tldr.” I figure if you read my article during a commercial break that’ll work for me. So far, only one I submitted has been rejected. Thanks Kirk Cameron.

After watching Revenge of the Sith, the first thing I thought was “finally I can watch the good ones again.” As I stated previously, I’m not a big Star Wars guy but I can’t say I don’t like the original trilogy. If it wasn’t for Star Wars, most Sci-Fi I like wouldn’t have happened. It really did blow up the genre but this is all stuff I’m going to address in my A New Hope review coming soon.
Revenge of the Sith had a bit of well timed themes relating to the Bush administration at the time. I don’t know if it was coincidental or not but either way it seemed to work. The dialog throughout the whole movie was either Liberal rhetoric or dialog ripped straight from bad teenage romantic novels. All of the dialog from all the actors seemed really forced and unnatural. All I can say is thank whoever decided to stop having George Lucas direct the films for the new one. Yikes.

Overall, this was a pretty good movie though. Good pacing, great action, and some really suspenseful moments really made this compelling, even when you know what is going to happen. I was really surprised how much I enjoyed it this time around. The lightsaber fights, while not the most well choreographed, were suspenseful and didn’t rely entirely on shaky cam. Far too often in movie fight scenes do they rely too much on shaky cam to make up for bad choreography. I’m looking at you Bourne films.
Watching all of these Star Wars films is getting me amped up for the new one coming on December 18th. I likely won’t see it on day one but I’m sure it won’t be too long after that. If you aren’t a big Star Wars fan, this may be the movie to check out. Basically starting a whole new story in the growing franchise that will likely explain everything in exposition anyway. Just saying if you are reading this and not really into Star Wars check it out anyway, you may be surprised. And if you are reading this after Episode VII has been released and it turns out it sucked, then feel free to ignore me.
