Hey toy fans! Welcome to our toy news round-up from the big show in San Diego. SDCC is once again behind us but we have a many number of things ahead of us! I’m going to go through my highlights, so if I fail to mention something that you loved, I’m sorry. Mention your favorites in the comment section below and we can discuss!
Let’s kick this off with NECA, who delivered some great surprises this year! First up we have another Kenner tribute line coming at us and this time around it’s The Terminator! I knew the moment I saw that claw arm!! This is a smart move by NECA, check out the upcoming assortment.
Here’s a picture of the classic Kenner Aliens Drake figure. I couldn’t find any images that weren’t copyrighted, sorry. Fans have been waiting for this figure for awhile now but NECA was apparently having problems getting the rights to use actor Mark Rolston likeness. Whatever, why wait?! Just like Apone, here comes Kenner tribute Drake with his awesome gun!
The Karate Kid franchise is hot right now thanks to Cobra Kai and YouTube. If you haven’t check it out yet and you’re a Karate Kid fan, then do it now. NECA announced an 8″ clothed line of figures featuring Mr. Miyagi, Daniel and Johnny in Skeleton costume. I love these types of figures from NECA and I hope we see more down the road!
Hasbro of course announced a shit-ton of figures at SDCC this year from Marvel to Star Wars and beyond. While you have fun keeping up on your collection, I’m just here for this amazing Professor X figure, it’s about damn time. I know that Mezco will put this out within a couple of years so I will enjoy both, but this will suffice for the time being.
Mostly because this figure is on the way so I need to have a classic CHARLES!! ERIK!! moment on my display shelf. All I’ll say is if Magneto isn’t a major release from Mezco I will be a little upset. The figure looks amazing and it’s about time he was added to the One:12 Collective. One more thing, Mezco “fans” bitched because there weren’t a lot reveals at the show. Listen to me now, JUST SHUT UP already and stop acting like “little boys”, MOST toy reveals happen at Toy Fair. It’s damned if they do, damn if they don’t these days and I’m getting sick of it. Good show Mezco, good show!
Huge fans of Diamond Select Toys here at DFAT and you know what, they are one of the best collectible companies out there. Tons of great licenses and diverse products AND they come in at every price point. I think that this is one of the most important aspects of the toy industry today. I am highlighting all DC here, but they do so much more.
I am pretty much ready to get on-board with these top-notch PVC statues. Darkseid is a damn good reason!
As well as this Dark Night Returns one featuring Batman and Carrie Kelly Robin!
I do want to take a moment and tell you how important it is that DST has the rights to make DC Vinimates. I wish that we would get more MiniMates based in that universe but I’m sure that the two companies have come to an amicable agreement to not “over compete”. Nonetheless, thank the New Gods that we get some great collectibles like this Black Manta below!
Finally today, my prayers have been answered. The Sorceress has conjured up Super 7‘s ability to make the 6″ scale Snake Mountain playset a reality! I’m not sure what to say except, how much and where am I going to store this thing?! Nothing is official yet other than this monstrosity is on the way!!
So that’s it on my part, like I said if you saw something you really liked and will be pre-ordering immediately, let us know!! We would love to talk with toy enthusiasts around the world!! See you next time Towelites!!
