This is it, bottom of the ninth, two outs, and the bases are loaded and the score is tied on both teams. The runner on third is just itching to score, and all that us left is one more pitch. All right enough of the baseball analogies, let’s get down to business. Moloch has risen; Henry is preparing Hell on Earth with his adopted father, Moloch and the Witnesses gearing up for the fight of their lives. This is the mid season finale and it’s going to be one hell of a rise to Helll!!!!

Sleepy Hollow The Akeda 01The Good

– After their car breaks down coming from retrieving the Sword of Methuselah, Abbie and Ichabod trade it in for a motorcycle, where Ichabod acts like a kid in a candy store claiming that after the apocalypse is over he really wants a motorcycle.

– Katrina gets rescued by Ichabod and Abbie from becoming the Horseman of Death’s new bride..

– Abraham, the Horseman of Death gets cornered by Ichabod and reveals that whoever wields the Sword of Methuselah, will die. Well that sucks. Jennie comes up with the idea that Irving should wield the sword, since his soul is already damned by Henry. Way to go Jenny.

– Ichabod finally has a heart to heart with his wife, Katrina, about all her decisions that she has made for the cause, and how betrayed he feels that she would keep things from him. Katrina still confesses her love for him, but Ichabod is not truly convinced. Their marriage is in ruin, and all that is left is defeating Moloch. Whatever is left standing, they don’t know what is going to happen.

– Irving gets medieval on the Horseman of War’s shadow knight and schools him with the Sword of Methuselah. However it came with a very heavy price, his life. Good bye Irving, you will be missed. He went down fighting like a warrior.

– We finally get to see Moloch in his full appearance, cool.

– Henry is finally seeing that Moloch is using him for his ultimate victory, that the Horseman of War is expendable. If Henry dies, then another person will take his place, but Henry must obey him. He orders him to retrieve the sword from Abbie and Ichabod.

– The Book of Genesis is mentioned of the story of Abraham and his son Isaac, also known as The Binding of Isaac, or in Hebrew term, Akedah, the dilemma Abraham had in where God asks him to sacrifice his son. Ichabod must choose to kill Henry to reach Moloch, or will he find another way. But when Ichabod faces him with the sword at Henry’s throat, he couldn’t do it. Ichabod then tells Henry that he will sacrifice himself before doing any harm to him. At a moment of hesitation by Ichabod, Henry saw an opportunity to take the sword from his father.

– Abbie knew that Ichabod never had the stomach to go through with killing Henry. I’m glad Ichabod chose to not kill Henry, because if he did, he would never forgive himself. She thinks with her head, Ichabod thinks with his heart.

– Katrina is right about Henry, in the end he did something that is totally not his character, he killed Moloch. But where does that leave him, the Sword claims the wielder’s life if it is used to kill a demon like Moloch. Is Henry redeemed?

– Abraham, the Horseman of Death is still locked up at Abbie’s archives. What is going to happen to him?

The Bad

– Nothing, this is a very good episode.

Sleepy Hollow The Akeda 02Now that Moloch is dead, what are they going to do? Is the apocalypse over? I guess we’ll find out when the show comes back in January. What is to become of Ichabod’s relationship with Katrina? There is a lot of emotion that poured out in this episode. The death of a main character, the surprise twist at the end, Ichabod’s relationship with Katrina and Abbie is uncertain, and is the apocalypse really over. Every character played to their strengths to defeat Moloch, but in the end the real hero is Henry believe or not. That is kind of cool.
