When Star Wars: The Phantom Menace was on the horizon to premiere, you had a mass-hysteria amongst the fans. There were those who haven’t seen a new Star Wars movie in 20 years, a new generation of fans who’ve never even heard of Star Wars, and everything in between. Then, we sat down and watched it, and asked ourselves “Why?” Why did that movie suck so bad? Why were mido-chlorians the source of The Force? Why did George Lucas destroy our childhood?
So, when the announcement for Episode VII came, there was a rejoice amongst the community that there would be a new Star Wars series, but there was also a hope that Lucas would keep his beard away from the whole thing. Luckily, we have found out that his involvement in the new franchise will be minimum.
Talking to Access Hollywood, Lucas stated:
“[If the filmmakers ask],‘Who’s this guy?’ I can tell them,” he told Access at the event in Los Angeles. “I mean, they have a hundred encyclopedias and things, but I actually know a lot. I can say, ‘This is this and this is that.’”
“Basically I’m not — I don’t really have much to do,” he said.
All I can really say is, Thank the Maker!
